Labelwell™ Caption Reader: what changed

0.9.9 (2026-10-24)
  - Fixed: on a Mac, a short line such as a date written on its own could be missed.

0.9.8 (2026-10-24)
  - When you check captions, the back of each photo is shown larger and the front smaller, so the writing on the back is easier to read.
  - Fixed: the writing on a back could come out last line first.
  - Fixed: handwriting could come out as letters of another alphabet (it looked like Russian).
  - A word read as a jumble of capital and small letters now comes out in small letters, ready for you to correct.

0.9.7 (2026-10-23)
  - Labelwell now shares its licence, update and setup code with the other Picture Org apps.
  - Fixed: the reminder after an update now names Labelwell's own Read captions command.
  - On Windows, the app's shortcuts now show the new icon after an in-app update.

0.9.6 (2026-10-23)
  - Fixed: if the reader could not start, Lightroom could wait forever; it now says what went wrong.
  - Small reliability and privacy fixes in the app and in saving your API key on a Mac.

0.9.5 (2026-10-23)
  - Faster reading of album pages with several labels.
  - A new app icon.

0.9.4 (2026-10-23)
  - Fixed: Enter API key... in the Plug-in Manager now opens the box to paste your key.
  - Fixed: on some Windows computers, Choose a folder and Choose photos in the app did nothing.
  - Steadier progress reporting on Windows while Labelwell reads.

0.9.3 (2026-10-22)
  - New: the Labelwell app, which reads captions without Lightroom Classic and saves them into the photo files
themselves. Check and correct every caption before it is saved, and undo a run later if you need to. Setup
lets you install the Lightroom plug-in, the app, or both.
  - New: copy a caption to nearby photos. In Lightroom, Library > Plug-in Extras > Labelwell: Copy caption to
selected photos; in the app, Copy to... under any caption.
  - New: read hard handwriting online with your own Claude, OpenAI or Google Gemini API key, only when your
computer isn't sure. Only label slips and photo backs are sent, never the photos.
  - Labelwell now checks for updates and can install them from inside Lightroom (File > Plug-in Manager).
  - New: Check my setup in the Plug-in Manager, and Library > Plug-in Extras > Labelwell: Create an error log.

0.9.2 (2026-10-22)
  - Writing that is sideways or upside down is now read too.
  - Label slip copies get the keyword "Labelwell > Label slip", so you can remove them when a project is done.
  - In Lightroom's Plug-in Manager, the License section is now last, just above Status, and it says thank you
once a license is entered. The panel now shows the Labelwell icon beside its description.
  - The Windows Setup now shows the Labelwell picture.

0.9.1 (2026-10-22)
  - New: Read captions from photo backs (Library > Plug-in Extras). Scan each print's front, then its back (or a
note or scrap of paper that belongs to it), and Labelwell puts the writing from each back on its front.
  - New: check and correct every caption before it is saved. Clear a box to leave that photo as it is.
  - The Labelwell keywords are never included when you export photos, even if you made them yourself.

0.9.0 (2026-10-22) - first release
  - Reads the writing on album label slips and on print borders into each photo's Caption in Lightroom Classic
    (Library > Plug-in Extras > Read captions...).
  - Every caption it writes is a draft, marked with the keyword "Labelwell > Check caption". Captions you have
already written are kept unless you choose to replace them.
  - Works from Lightroom's crop: run Squarewell on album pages first, and the writing on each label also goes onto
the print beside it. Single prints cropped by hand work too.
  - Reads on your own computer: Apple's built-in text reader on a Mac, RapidOCR on Windows.
  - 21-day free trial, then a license key.
